FRP Louver

What Makes FRP the Right Louver Material for Aggressive Environments?

The fundamental issue with metal louvers in corrosive environments is that the protective coating is the only thing standing between the structural material and the aggressive atmosphere — and coating failure is a matter of when, not if. Aluminium develops pitting corrosion in chlorinated or acidic atmospheres. Galvanised steel loses its zinc coating progressively in the humid, warm conditions inside cooling tower air inlets. Fibreglass louver blades and frames made from glass reinforced polyester or vinyl ester resin are not affected by these conditions. There's no metal to corrode, no coating to maintain, and no structural degradation over a 25-year service life in even the most aggressive industrial atmospheres.

Product Range

Types of FRP Louvers

Fixed Blade FRP Louvers Permanently set blades at a specified angle — typically 45° — providing weather protection and controlled ventilation in a single maintenance-free unit. The standard specification for industrial ventilation louvers in chemical plant buildings, cooling tower air inlets, electrical equipment enclosures, and general industrial building ventilation openings.

Operable FRP Louvers Adjustable blade assemblies with manual crank or motorised actuator for variable ventilation control. Used in HVAC systems, battery room ventilation (where volume flow is critical to gas dilution safety), server room cooling, and any application where airflow needs to be modulated based on temperature, occupancy, or process conditions.

Combination Louver and Bird Screen FRP louver assembly with integrated fibreglass or stainless steel mesh bird and insect screen behind the blade set. Standard for electrical switchgear buildings, generator rooms, and any enclosed equipment space where pest ingress would cause equipment damage or safety hazard.

Key Advantages

Key Benefits of AMROCK FRP Louvers

Complete Corrosion Immunity

Unaffected by salt spray, H₂S, chlorine, SO₂, and industrial chemical atmospheres — the material that corrodes aluminium and galvanised steel has no effect on FRP.

No Maintenance Painting

Colour is integrated in the resin - no coating cycles, no scaffolding to access and repaint louvers at height. Set and forget for 25 years.

Lightweight

Significantly lighter than equivalent steel louver assemblies - reduces structural load on the building opening and simplifies installation.

Custom Sizing

Manufactured to any building opening dimension - standard sizes don't apply here; every frame is made to the actual opening size.

End Markets

Applications

Cooling Tower Air Inlets

The most demanding louver environment — warm, saturated air with chlorine and biological treatment chemicals. FRP louvers handle this where metal cannot.

Chemical Plant Buildings

Acid-resistant ventilation panels for buildings housing acid processes, chlorination systems, and solvent handling.

Offshore Accommodation

Marine-grade salt spray resistance for ventilation openings in offshore living quarters, control rooms, and utility buildings

Electrical Substations

Non-conductive ventilation for transformer bays and switchgear buildings where metallic louvers would require careful electrical isolation

Coastal Industrial Buildings

25-year life in high-humidity, salt-laden coastal atmospheres where aluminium louvers fail within 5 years.
